Mine brings up two identical interfaces (for a total of *three*)
without any apparent ill effect. I can't explain it. I have asked
the same question several times and have not received an answer.
This happened using both slip and ethertap. (I use ethertap now.)
Older diald does the same thing, if I remember correctly.
