In the time i have been using diald 0.16.5 from slink (Debian 2.1), i
haven't had any errors due to idle link time out. Sometimes, my ISP sends
packets to me from the DNS server that maintain the link up (pings, i dont
know the reason), so i have had to add the rule "ignore icmp any" at the
beginning of the filter file. Some other times, when i use Netscape some
time, some FIN ACK packets continue going out without reason. Then, i have
had to add the rule "ignore tcp tcp.fin".

Are you sure you haven't any rule to stop the link when you receive that
packet to the 224 ip address?
Send me your filter file, if you want me to study it.

This is the confirmation that something is bad in your filter file, i
think.
