I have several examples of ports from the PCMCIA code to specific flash
setups. I'm not a driver level guru so much of it goes over my head. Check
my ftp server ftp.ewingdata.com for flash-linux.tar.gz and
mtd-980408.tar.gz. The latter is a direct port of the PCMCIA files. BTW -
the M-Systems DiskOnChip binary driver for Linux is also there -
DOC_beta.zip.
Both of these and the romfs seem to implement the FFS as well as the
low-level stuff in the same code. I think future driver ports would be well
served by a FFS (flash file system) driver and a separate, simpler flash
driver specific to each chip.
Could the romfs port be modified for this?
