ROM filesystem?

Hello everyone,

I noticed the "ROM FS" compilation alternative in the new kernel
2.2.5. 

Does it mean that it can boot from an "ordinary" ROM? Has anyone
played with this? How does it work? It would save my company a *lot*
of $$$... ;-)
