correct, but Did you just try to dd the whole device to somewhere else e.g.
the Network and then just duplicating them via dd?

IMO this should enable you to forget about the whole DOS stuff which
actually realy is kind of complicated. I remeber connecting a Disk drive to
my system just because opf this DOS stuff.
