Yes, MPU401 emulation is not really there.

There is a MS-DOS diagnostic utility called ATTEST that
NSC has passed me can check everything including the VSA
version. If you need that, I can pass to you.

There is another VSA SMI bug that caused the clicking noise between
each DMA buffer is played. Upgrade to 2.2.13 or 2.2.14 to take
advantage of the patch (kernel message will have the message
"Working around Cyrix MediaGX virtual DMA bug.").
