Hi! Looking at the datasheet of various IDE flash disks, one can occasionally see descriptions of vendor specific commands, e.g. format unit, erase whole unit etc.
Now comes the question: How can I issue these commands ? I'm sure the linux IDE driver is not able to issue them, and I don't know of any tools which permit issueing commands assembled by the user. Any solutions, hints, pointers, experiences, demonstration code to write it by myself ? Disclaimer: I know those commands are dangerous, but our disk (Silicontech 2.5" 96MB, Hitachi CV controller) is broken (BadCRC on read of sector 0) and out of warranty anyway.
