Greetings list,

i am trying to get HeartBeat 2.1.3 running on RedHat Fedora Core 3. this is
particular box is the master, the service we want HA on is MySQL and we are
using heartbeats across ethernet interfaces.

the install of heartbeat and mon went fine.

however, when i try and start the heartbeat service via the startup script-
heartbeat never installs the virtual interface/virtual IP. now, the slave
server isn't actually live but that shouldn't make a difference on installing
the VIP on the master should it?

any help would be greatly appreciated. here are some things from the log i
find curious:

IPaddr[17466]: 2008/03/04_16:19:51 ERROR: Setup problem: Couldn't find utility
/bin/gawk
IPaddr[17449]: 2008/03/04_16:19:51 ERROR: Program is not installed

*but* it is installed:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log]$ ls -la /bin/gawk
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 252412 Jun 29 2004 /bin/gawk
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log]$

and then this little number:

heartbeat[3563]: 2008/03/05_11:40:19 ERROR: glib: Unable to send bcast [-1]
packet(len=207): Interrupted system call
heartbeat[3563]: 2008/03/05_11:40:19 ERROR: Write timeout on bcast eth1.:
Interrupted system call
heartbeat[3563]: 2008/03/05_11:40:21 ERROR: glib: Unable to send bcast [-1]
packet(len=207): Interrupted system call
heartbeat[3563]: 2008/03/05_11:40:21 ERROR: Write timeout on bcast eth1.:
Interrupted system call

what the heck does that mean? the interface is up. i can ping the ip on
eth1...

thanks,
jg
