Karl,

In the death of packet radio, perhaps there is life!  What you're 
pointing out is the need for Amateurs all over the world to think about 
and create at the leading edge of technology.  Any technology at 8 years 
of age is ancient technology.  So, yes, shut of that old stuff.  It 
served well, but hopefully, you'll be inspired to try the next thing in 
wireless communications, whatever that may be!
