I'm trying to use an old sbpro for packet. It transmits OK, but
never receives anything. I don't here the audio from line in on the
output either.

smmixer refuses to set anything except the output gain and the input
selection (the manual page says this is all that is supported).
I find this a bit strange, I think a lot more mixer settings were supported
on that card. Running smmixer says

smmixer: Version 0.2; (C) 1996-1997 by Thomas Sailer HB9JNX/AE4WA
Input source: Line
Master volume: Left: -6dB Right: -6dB
Voice volume: Left: 0dB Right: 0dB
MIDI volume: Left: -46dB Right: -46dB
CD volume: Left: -46dB Right: -46dB
Line volume: Left: -46dB Right: -46dB
Mic mixing volume: -46dB

With line input at -46 that's probably why I don't hear anything.
Any ideas? I might swap it for an SB mono card I have lying around,
if necessary.

thanks
