I have RH 5.1 running, I added the following line to my /etc/lilo.conf to
recognize the 128 MB.
append="mem=128M"

Check out this web page http://bxboards.com/dual.htm Be advised if you
attempt this successfull or not, you will have voided the warranty on
the CPU. It requires modification to the CPU module itself.

Can anyone help with regards to installing Linux onto a Jaz Drive?? I have
freed up 150 MB on my Toshiba Libretto 50CT internal drive, enough for a
swap file and /boot, but I want to store the main bulk of the install onto a
Jaz cartridge. Running fips does not recognise the drive, and nor does the
Linux install procedure when you choose custom install.

Anyone manage to install Linux onto a Jaz drive??

Hi

I started to play with Red Hat Linux 5.0 and used my old Compaq Deskpro XE
466 (486 DXZ 66 MHz), but I can't install OS because installation does not
recognize my IDE ATAPI CD-ROM unit. I looked into some documentation, tried
to input

hdb=cdrom (response Could not find kernel image: hdb=cdro.m)
or
ide0=0x1f0,0x3f6,14

before installation (boot prompt) without success.

Under DOS I have Cyberdrive driver version 1.94 with base address 1F0
drive version is IDE CE-ROM TW12OD2.30
and device driver name is CD003

and everything works fine.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I used a 2 GB disk on a 1990 486 with no problems. 4095 cyl, 16 heads.
I didn't do anything except use Type 47 (User defined) drive type.
Of course, LILO booting needs its files in the first 1024 cyls.
No "appends" in /etc/lilo.conf or boot command. It just worked.
AMI BIOS.

Did you try something like "setenv TERM vt100" or "export TERM=vt100"?
Most terminals are able to handle vt100.

I would suggest getting 2ea 4GB drives. It puts more data
the heads and allows you to have a spare kernel to boot from
during/after emergencies. It also allows you to create two
swap partitions.

I have an ASUS P2B-S (internal SCSI) and an ATI Xpert@Play98
which is running perfectly. It even will boot from the SCSI
CDROM (RH-5.2) into the install procedure.

I have been using ASUS boards for several years and have
found them to be reliable. I think the system you describe
will serve you well.

If you configured your motherboard correctly, then there should be
pentium 75+ (note the plus).
I don't think you need to recompile the kernel. Look if BogoMips rised,
though. AFAIK it wo't show the megahetrz there anyway (just say it's 75+

I have heard only good about a SpeedCom+ TV tuner. It has also a IR

A Big Fat Note: DON't buy ATI TV-tuner! It isn't supported by Linux and
thanks to ignorance of ATI it will not be in the near future.

Thanks. I went to the site you listed and printed it out.

Two problems:

1) My directory structure is a little different from the one you
listed...There is no "drivers" directory. I have
/usr/src/linux/include/net.

2) When I try to compile...the `make config' command generates the
following error:
make: *** No rule to make target `config'. Stop.

Thanks.
