From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'm trying to get IrDA working under Linux on a 600E in order to get
infrared syncing with my pilot. I've downloaded and installed the
kernel patches, and built the irda-utils, but I can't seem to find the
IrDA device as a tty. Under Windows98, I deinstalled and reinstalled
the IrDA device to get it to come out as COM4 (it was originally set
up as COM5, which is no good if you want to sync with a Pilot), and it
works fine. It is taking up resources IRQ 4, I/O port 0x3f8, which is
normally COM1; the built-in serial port is on COM2.

Under Linux, it doesn't show up as either COM1 or COM4.

Has anyone gotten this working with the Thinkpad?

It looks like the card is recognized and installed, but I am not able
to connect to the DHCP server. Something fails.
And it worked flawlessly under redhat 5.2.

Hi there,

does any of you know a way for me to setup/get a DISK-Raid Thing, where i
attach "two" Linux-Boxes

each with a SCSI-Controller an use the raidthing as a "shared-disk".

The Backgroud:

I´m planning on setting up a redundant server-system: RAID seems enough
secure for that, besides two

nics in each machine theyll both be running the same system. There will be
an none IP-Heartbeat und

slip or plip..or so :-) an they themselv check the ´aliveness´ of each
other....there might be a

screening-router located before them. also checking the machines and
resetting Routes if necessary

There is still alot for me to check out, but it all starts with the storage
system,

so you guys can help me?

BTW: I´m planning to use Linux :-)

Commenting out the applicable line in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules may just get it
working

Hi Toni,

they DO work very fine under linux since kernel 2.0.35.
If You use SuSE distribution you can choose a predefined boot-kernel
which fully supports Buslogic SCSI controllers. You only have to
say : Buslogic - all models. This includes Flashpoint LT controllers.

I use a flashpoint LT myself and have no problems at all with it.

Cheers,
Carsten

Here is the whole thing once again. I think I fixed things as good
as they ever were. But they are not satisfactory yet.

                            ----------------

PROBLEM: Strange behavior od MIDI players, especially KMID. After
several soundconf's and reinstallation of OSS the following status
emerged:

SHORT SUMMARY:
I suspect KMID is broken, but there may be genuine interrupt problems.
OSS only uses IRQ 5, 7 while Windows lists 5, 10, 11 for sound.
There may be kernel version incompatibility (see version.txt below).

MORE DETAIL:
    Netscape MIDI (Hoff) plugin works.

KMIDI plays OK (stereo) but it does not play all files (some are just
silent; some of these are played by KMID).
KMIDI volume is on the "pcm" KMIX channel.

KMID plays more files than KMIDI, but sometimes in one channel (left
or right) only. Repeatedly pressing Setup and possibly selecting
different midi maps will switch between left and right and possibly
    even start playing stereo.
KMID is rather loud compared with CD player or KMIDI, with the same
KMIX settings, and its volume is set by the "synth" channel, not "pcm".
    Mouse noise is very pronounced.

FILES:
SuSE 5.3 Linux and Windows sound-related files follow.

devices.cfg:

NOTE: Both of these work the same: they differ in 534 vs. 530
for the first I/O address (534 is Windows-like, see end of this
file; but Windows uses IRQ=5, DMA=1,3 for it).

Suggested by OSS setup:

COMPILED_FOR_Linux-2.0.36.txt -> version.txt:
=============================================
NOTE: installation went without problems. sndshield did not recompile.
I have kernel version 2.0.35. I even did
          "mv /lib/modules/2.0.35/misc/sound.o \
           /lib/modules/2.0.35/misc/sound.o.orig.urartu"
          prior to installation.

This version (3.9.2d-990210) is compiled for Linux-2.0.36

Loadable kernel modules in Linux are very version sensitive.
It may be possible that this version of OSS doesn't work with
the kernel version you are currently using. Please contact
[EMAIL PROTECTED] for help.

The last thing you want to do to a text document is attach it.
You should insert text into the body of the message.
