Hello nice people helping me with linux!

I miss drivers for these components:

Voodoo 3500
CTX 1569MS monitor

Does anyone know where i can find hardware drivers?
Or if you know where i can find drivers for those components?

Thanks in advance!

The only way that I was able to get OpenGL acceleration in XFree86 with the
GeForce DDR card was to go back to version 3.3.5 and then get the X server and
GL libraries from:

    http://www.nvidia.com/Products.nsf/htmlmedia/soft_ware_drivers.html

then go to the Linux Drivers and get:

    RIVA-X-GLX-1.0-glibc-i386.tar.gz

tar xzvf RIVA-X-GLX-1.0-glibc-i386.tar.gz
cd X-GLX-glibs-i386
./riva_install

If someone can get it to work with XFree86 4.0 I'd be very interested in
hearing what needs to be done.

If you have a recent distribution (RedHat 6.1, SuSE 6.2, Mandrake 7.0,
etc.) then Xfree86 3.3.5 or higher should be in there. The Voodoo 3500 is
supported in Xfree86 3.3.5 or higher.

>CTX 1569MS monitor

No particular driver needed for a monitor. Look in the monitor's manual
and find out the Hsync and Vsync ranges, then feed those to the X
configuration utility. (SaX, Xconfigurator, or XF86Setup.) If you don't
have a monitor manual, try the default "safe" values and try increasing
those cautiously, unless this is one of those older fixed-frequency
monitors.

Hello again...

I'm still a newbie, and still trying to figure Linux out. I have a Compaq
Presario on which I'm attempting a dual boot configuration (Win98/RedHat
6.0). The only odd thing about my machine is that the A: drive is busted
(not sure why).

Ok, so, I'm attempting the install. Everything works great until we get to
the network configuration (by the by, I'm going for a Workstation install).
It didn't work. So, after asking around, I determined that it would work if
I bought an Ethernet card that Linux would recognize...

I purchased an AOpen 10/100 card (based on the RealTek chip 8159?). So,
after re-installing (I don't know how to do it any other way) Linux
recognized the card and continued along its merry way with the install.
However, after rebooting, there is no connection. For whatever reason it
does not see the 'net. Any ideas?

Yes, the card does work under Win98, so its not the card.

thanks again,

Subject: Problems installing Linux on SGI 320
Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2000 14:36:41 GMT

 Hi all,
I'm trying to install RedHat Linux 6.0 on my SGI 320
but I can't go more than the 2nd floppy. I'm following
  the istructions indicated in www.linux.sgi.com.
Here is the configuration of my 320:

  CPU single PIII 500 Mhz
  RAM 256 MB
HD SCSI 9.1 GB (the 1st partition is a NTFS,
                  the 2nd is a FAT)
  SCSI Qlogic 1080

  PROM 1.0006

  - FLOPPY BUILDING

  Downloading of rh60.initrd.img and rh60.rescue.img,
and renaming them in initrd.img and rescue.img. After
that downloading of the remnant files.

  -> Floppy1 (format -FAT- and copying arclx.exe and larc.exe)
  -> Floppy2 C:> rawrite
C:> enter disk image source: initrd.img
C:> enter target diskette drive: A
             C:> Please enter a formatted diskette .....

             C:>
  -> Floppy3 C:> rawrite
C:> enter disk image source: rescue.img
C:> enter target diskette drive: A
             C:> Please enter a formatted diskette .....
                 Controller has failed

             C:>
  -> Floppy4 (format -FAT- and copying f4jul28.tgz)

  - LINUX INSTALLATION

  1. creation of two boot settings (one with arclx.exe and one
with larc.exe); I tried both of them.

     OSLoader: arclx.exe (or larc.exe)
     OSLoadFilename: /la2210.vw
     OSLoadPartition: Floppy1
SystemPartition: Disk Partition no longer present
     OSLoad Options: root:/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1

     I tried also with

       OSLoad Options: root:/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1 init=1

     but without positive results.

  2. Insert Floppy 1
  3. Start System

The system starts to work and begins to load the first
floppy: everything is recognized (USB keyboard and
mouse, ql1080, Disk, etc.). In the final part of
the list that appears (black page with the
penguin Tux in the upper-left corner) there are these
  messages:

  Partition Check:

<I insert the floppy 2 and press ENTER>

RAMDISK: ext2 filesystem found at block 0
RAMDISK: Loading 2000 blocks [2 disks] into ram disk... done disk #1
Please insert disk #2 and press ENTER

<which second floppy???? I tried to insert the other disks (one
for each attempt) but the result is always the same>

  Loading disk #2... done.
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly.
Freeing unused kernel memory: 52k freed
Warning: unable to open an initial console.
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init=option to kernel.

<at this point I have to reset the SGI 320 because I can't
   go on>

Who can help me? Thx in advance.

To be honest, I'm not sure what would cause it. Can you boot to your Feb
15 kernel still? And does the problem go away if you do that?

If so, then I'd run through your kernel config and make sure you didn't
tell it you had a special real-time clock or something.

It's a non-linear relationship: While larger design rules have larger device
geometries and thicker
oxide layers, they also run at higher voltages. I'd recommend the SEI and NASA sites
for the detailed
physics.

I don't know if this is a single device or a standard that might or might
not require different drivers for each device. I've got two systems that
use VIA sound chipsets (a notebook based on an MVP-4 chipset and an Athlon
motherboard with a combination AMD/VIA chipset). The ALSA
(http://www.alsa-project.org) drivers work with both, but only the latest
version (0.5.6); the VIA 82c686a driver didn't exist in the 0.5.5 and
earlier versions. I believe a few distributions do ship with ALSA, but I
don't know what version offhand.

RedHat 6.0 or higher is a glibc2.1 based distribution if you're confused

You're probably going to want to look into the support that the X-server

has for you video card. You'll want to check www.xfree86.org to see what

version you need and you'll probably need to upgrade from what comes
with
Redhat 6.0
