If I tag a message (which is not in the inbox) as junk, mozilla will continually notify me on new messages in this folder until I compact the folder.
To verify, compact the folder in firebird. If this makes a difference, then it's indeed in the mozilla side of things and we should post a bug.

My setup is the courier-imap-ssl on Debian unstable. I use Mozilla Thunderbird 0.5 to read mail both on Linux (localhost) and Windows XP (at work).
In the last 3-4 weeks, without changing the Thunderbird setup but after upgrading courier from 2.x to 3.x thunderbird startted to show me the count of new messages (as it used to) but when I enter a folder with new messages I have to double click it (i.e. open another main window) in order to make it actually read the messages.
I tried to downgrade back to the courier imap version I had before (through debian snapshots) but the problem still persists.
I couldn't find any problem reports about this package niether on Debian or courier-imap in general.
Does anyone know what else can I do to solve this?
