I have two must-have features in LILO that grub doesn't do at the

I know of two, that may or may not be the two you are referring to too.
1. LILO allows booting from software RAID-1 partitions in a fault
tolerant way.
2. LILO allows the "-R" option, where you select the next kernel to boot
from differently than the default kernel. This allows upgrading kernels
on remote computers with little risk of being locked out of the machine.
Both features can be emulated using a fairly complex GRUB menu system,
but I never bother. I use LILO for servers.
For local computers, now, that's a different story. GRUB's understanding
of the filesystem means that recovering from misconfigurations is a
breeze. It is a rare case indeed where you have to use a rescue floppy
if you have GRUB on the MBR. I use that for all of my desktop machines.
with all its glorified feature set, it's not easy to figure out
the install process either. the bottom line is that with all its might,
I still take LILO every day, whether I install Debian or RHEL. lilo got
me out of places grub stuck me into.
