Have you tried ies4linux (http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/Main_Page, Ubuntu-specific instructions in http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/Installation:Ubuntu)? It's an installation script which concentrates on IE+Wine.
