Hello,

  I followed the instructions given by the list, but
was still unable to access my IDE ATAPI cdrom.

  The cdrom is configured as secondary master.  There
is no file /proc/sys/dev/cdrom .  Below, i have sent a
screenshot of my dmesg (appropriate part only)
