[LIH] sendmail blues

What can induce changes in sendmail ? I had made all the necessary changes
in sendmail.cf, sendmail.mc and got mail working in RHL 6.1. yet all of a
sudden, I am getting messages returned with 501 errors, Why is this
happening ? I have not fiddled with any config files.
