If I remember right, it is there on the PCQ cd, so save yourself the
trouble of downloading it. But, if you are so inclined, there are
three links on the page - ALSA driver 0.5.8a, ALSA library 0.5.8, and
ALSA utils 0.5.8. Download them and save it in your home directory.
They are tar.bz2 files. Now start a terminal (get used to the terminal
- you will learn a lot that way), and type in "cd /usr/local/src" to
go the /usr/local/src directory. This is where external sources
should be unpacked. Now type in the following to extract it:
tar Ixvf ~/alsa-driver-0.5.8.tar.bz2
And do the same with the other two files. The ~ refers to your home
directory. There will be three new directories in /usr/local/src. Now
type in "cd alsa-driver-0.5.8" to go to that directory, then look at
the files in that directory (ls). View any of the files using "less
filename". You can also use "mc" (Midnight Commander) to interactively
list a directory and view files. Now read the files containing the
instructions (README, INSTALL, FAQ, etc.), and follow them. Do the
same with the libs and the utils.
I hope this is enough of a walkthrough, so good luck! :-)

Yeah, by typing it into a Gnome Terminal, you'll be running a program
called "python", which is the python language interpreter. About
whether it's good etc., see http://www.python.org/
