First you should have installed the lilo in first sector of the root
partition.
if you already installed the lilo in mbr don't panic the back up of the
original boot lodar is at /boot/boot.0300 something like this for scsi
boot.800 check for file name once
make sure you have back up all the data before.
first you make a boot floppy form linux.
check for uninstall option for lilo and reinstall it in first sector in
linux partition(man pages I never tried it),please some body through there
light on this
dd if=/boot/boot.300 of=/dev/hda (assuming you have ide drive as primary)
bs=496 count=1
you will get back the original mbr back with out lilo
if you don't restore it using winnt repair disk.
if you freshly installing linux select first sector of linux drive
use dd
dd if=/dev/hda5 of=boot.linux bs=512 count=1
launch the nt open boot.ini, copy the boot.linux to c:\
give an entry like c:\boot.linux "LINUX"
restart the nt you will see linux there
again nt will launch linux.
but the diadvatage with if you corrupt thr boot.ini both nt and linu are
off.(unless you have boot diskette).
lilo is more flexible still Microsoft nt users wan't to make linux as
unstable as NT why this ?
I don't get the funda behind useing dirty boot.ini.
