No, I haven't tried it and am not inclined to try it either. The reason I
gave debian first is that I believe a base install of debian is quite easy
to set up - and occupies very little space.

You might not agree with him, but he has a quite good point about slackware
style package management being preferable (more freedom thanks to no
dependency checking, etc), IMHO at least.
