hi ajay,
if your screen is larger that your current resolution,it is because of a
feature of X called virtual screen.to disable virtual resolution, just keep
the mode values in the screen section->display subsection of your current
colordepth.remove any lines containing viewport virtual resolution etc and
then restart X.

Dear Friends,

After trying out the usual techniques I upgraded my kernel from 2.2.14-12 to
2.4.1 (PCQ Mar 01) and installed the X-server 4.0.1 (PCQ May 01), and now the
X-server is running fine.

Thanks to Sanjeev, Shridhar, Rajesh, Sreangsu and others for helping me out.
Rendezvous - you had the same problem - can try this out.

Just one problem, my Desktop is larger than the monitor and hence got to
scroll a lot. Haven't found the solution to it yet.

Regards,

Ajay Shankar
