Try out with ./configure --disable-dshow

--disable-dshow disable DirectShow support (if you don't have C++
compiler&libs, or you've found dshow codecs
slower than old VfW ones)

It looks as if Directshow libraries are missing on your system. Mplayer
detects if the libraries are present during ./configure otherwise it does not use
them. One more thing the version of mplayer - IdegCounter is very old. After that
lot of things have changed in mplayer. In fact on Monday ver 0.18 will be out.
Download that and try to compile that or if u want now download the latest
cvs snapshot tarball which is the latest.
