Dear All,

We wish to install RHL 7.1 on an IBM Thinkpad 560, that does NOT have a CDROM drive,
and has an external FLOPPY drive. It has a 3Com PCMCIA NIC 3CCFE574BT.

We have a LAN in our organization and connect to internet via a proxy server.

We tried the following approaches, but could not succeed.

1) From Windows we first copied the images into a directory on the Thinkpad.

2) We configured one of our PC as HTTP server and exported its CD drive containing
RedHat CD.

3) We started the installation using the loadlin and the following images
'bootnet.img', pcmcia.img, pcmciadd.img, along with the 'initrd.img'.

4) We went through the Network configuration dialog, and then it asked for the HTTP
server and the directory containig RedHat files.

5) Here we tried all the possible paths (which were working when checked from other
PCs connected to the LAN), but always got the error : FTP IO failed.

6) We then started an FTP server (along with the HTTP server) on the same PC and still
we got the same error, when either the FTP or HTTP installation was used.

7) We also tried copying the complete RPMS directories onto the FAT32 partition on the
Thinkpad and started the installation, but it required ISO images and not the RPMs!

So please help us to get through the installation.

Thanks in advance,

Phundan
