This is what I have put in my /etc/ppp/options file
-detach
modem
lock
crtscts
defaultroute
asyncmap 0
mtu 552
mru 552
name <account name>
Finally run the pppd using
/usr/sbin/pppd connect 'chat -v -f
/root/connect/ppp-dialer' /dev/ttyS1 38400 debug
crtscts modem defaultroute
