Maybe the ext2fs that you have is newer version than what is present in
2.0.38 .... try moving the ext2fs files from the kernel that came with
RH6.2 into your 2.0.38 source tree... keep your fingers crossed and see if
it works! :)

Sure fire way of doing this... is to install RH5.2 (I think it came with a
2.0 series kernel.

And pls don't attach large files while posting to any mailing list...
upload it someplace and mail us a link.... anyone interested will go there
and see the file.
