Hi,
I have a Pentium MMX 233 MHz dual boot (win 95, PCQ Linux 7.1) PC with
KDE installation on a 900 MB Partition. I am having a TVSE MSP155 dot matrix
printer which I wanted to install in Linux.

In windows I installed this with Epson FX 105 drivers painlessly.

The printer is connected to LPT1 (Windows terminology)

During boot up itself, lpd detected it but I could not read the message as
it scrolled past quickly . After logging in as root, I went to system--
Printer Configuration.

I gave the queue name TVSE. Gave the Type as local printer and device in
/dev/lp0. Then the drivers , I went to EPSON and dotmatrix driver was there
and that I selected. Then applied it and it restarted lpd.

Then I went into Kword , opened a document and gave print command. Nothing
happened.Tried it some 2,3 times , same result.

Then I went to a console and switched to /usr/share/doc/FAQS/txt.
Gave the following command

# lpr FTP-FAQ
Following was the error output
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------
Status information
sending job root @ localhost+738 to TVSE @ localhost
Connecting to 'local host' attempt 1
cannot open connection to localhost
Network is unreachable
Make sure LPD server is running on the server
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--

In process management also(kpm) , lpd was running , but it was listening
only

I tried many times , but still I am unable to print a single alphabet in
Linux

This is really maddening.

Where am I going wrong?

Will somebody please help?
