          Sorry about the late reply. The PC was on th blink and today only
it was made alright.
I tried lsmode command and yes, parport is loaded. The following was the
outout (alongwith other modules)

But still the printing from application(K Word) or commandline (lpr) did not
work with the
earlier quoted error message continuing.

Mean while dumping the output on the device with the command

# cat  FTP-FAQ > /dev/lp0

worked with the whole file being printed. This is quick and dirty printing
but I would like
to set up proper printing using spoolers.

Pl help
