Install openssl-devel and other rpms required

Then for gods sake read sendmail/SECURITY from the tarball (say
/usr/src/sendmail-8.12.1/sendmail/SECURITY) about the users you have to
create, the permissions you have to set etc.

Rebuild the sendmail.cf

Right - you HAVE to rtfm first, before trying 8.12 (user / group smmsp,
permissions etc)

And stop your existing sendmail ... before installing and starting a new
sendmail.

gnu m4 ... shouldnt be a hassle.  Berkeley DB 3 has been around for quite
some time - that does equally well.
