Then you are left with the task of seeing where the mail goes ... 
sendmail -d9 -bt should help you.  Or take a look at the logs

syslog entries are output to file as per the  configuration in
/etc/syslog.conf .. To have the same thing also shown on a tty 
not in use, add the following to /etc/syslog.conf:
# Output to tty9 as well, and Alt-F9 to view
*.*         /dev/tty9
