Hi!

We have quite a few NT boxes in our office and a few Linux based servers.
The NT boxes uses WINS to connect to the PDC which again is a NT box. The
linux servers are restricted to be accessed via FTP or Telnet via IP addresses.
The problem that we face is, on some machines, FTP takes a painfully long
time to connect (from NT to Linux). Telnet is faster. We've tried to add
our NT boxes IP address to the host files on Linux. Sometimes it helps,
some times it does not.
I'd like to know if what we are doing is wrong? and if there are any other
better way to configure the boxes to get faster access. We run RH7.1

Thanks,
Shoban Jeyaraj
