dictd is perhaps the best dictionary available on Linux ... The only
problem is the size of the daemon. On a server setup, or  a  machine
with 256 mb memory, one can afford the  amount it  takes up (talk in
terms of mbs not kbs), but otherwise on a standalone box,  a bit too 
resource hungry! Otherwise brilliant ... setting  up  is a  bit of a 
pain (unless you apt-get from debian). Congrats  that  you got it to
work ...

Could you confirm the amount of memory swallowed by the daemon ?
