That does not include ttyS0, ttyS1 etc. At home on one partition this PCQ
Linux 7.1 is still there, but I was not using it. Tried wvdial there and it
worked on my gvc modem without problem. However the above errors were still
coming in /var/log/messages. But these errors should not affect anything.

I tried all that. But wvdial is not initialising the modem. I tried
connecting the mouse to ttyS1 and it works fine.

Now only thing left to be done is connecting a modem of different company
say dlink or gvc. The one which is here is US Robotics. Anybody using this
modem with RH Linux 7.1 ? If yes, can you send me any initialisation
strings which might be required. I am short of ideas here.

Thanks in advance.

Peace

Sub : syslog output on console LOST #131

syslog entries are output to file as per the configuration in
/etc/syslog.conf .. To have the same thing also shown on a tty
not in use, add the following to /etc/syslog.conf:

# Output to tty9 as well, and Alt-F9 to view
*.* /dev/tty9
