i don't see the Jabber protocol inside MSN, in spite the fact Jabber is open,
and widely used in some countries.

Jabber, AIM are opened or partially opened (AIM's TOC).

so good business is to be proprietary ? that's how RedHat, SuSE and Co make
money ? please...
if they don't want to open it 100%, they could do as AOL and create a
sub-protocol that they open. or open an old one. they could even request in
the user agreement that we provide some links to their system in our client,
that's already what KYIM and GTKYahoo are doing for instance.
there are 1 000 other ways to do good business and to make money than
"control control control".
