By default the startup script does this on redhat. Nothing more required. I start sendmail in ip-up.local. So no problems. >/usr/sbin/sendmail -q in /etc/ppp/ip-up.local, along with fetchmail. /usr/sbin/sendmail -q -v /usr/bin/fetchmail -e 15 -t 60 -v -a -f /etc/fetchmailrc -L /var/log/fetchmail.log is already present in /etc/ppp/ip-up.local.
