Hi All,
Finally I am able to login through serial port to my machine having
specialix card. This is all what i did.
we need to have following.
1. #insmod specialix
Make sure you card is detected by the kernel. You can view it by dmesg command
and boot.log file in /var/log/ dir after booting
server.
2. I do have 8, RJ12 ports in my card that's why I have put the following
entries in /etc/inittab
#####
W0:23:respawn:/sbin/mgetty ttyW0 DT9600 vt100
W1:23:respawn:/sbin/mgetty ttyW1 DT9600 vt100
W2:23:respawn:/sbin/mgetty ttyW2 DT9600 vt100
W3:23:respawn:/sbin/mgetty ttyW3 DT9600 vt100
W4:23:respawn:/sbin/mgetty ttyW4 DT9600 vt100
W5:23:respawn:/sbin/mgetty ttyW5 DT9600 vt100
W6:23:respawn:/sbin/mgetty ttyW6 DT9600 vt100
W7:23:respawn:/sbin/mgetty ttyW7 DT9600 vt100
#####
Now run
3. #telinit q
I have put the RJ12 connector to the No 1 port. Numbering is done from 1 to 7
is done, from the edge we put the card in motherboard.
Second end is Serial 25 pin port. which goes into the my serial port to another
m/c at ttyS0.
Now run .
4. #minicom -s
In the client side m/c choose "Serial port Setup" . and choose 9600 8N1 for
the Bps/parity/Bits. Say yes to "Software control flow" and set your serial
port.
That's it!
Now run minicom from the client side you will get the login prompt for the
server.
More information can be located in specialix.txt in kernel documentation and at
