Seems a nice utility from above description.

Just clear the hurdles and kindly make it available on the net.
Then to a query on print setup problems etc , all can simply point to the 
url of this util.
( Like for mail/sendmail/mutt setup we refer to Suresh's url. ) 

Please also include Diagnostics for Disk problems, broken links, DNS/mail, 
network setup and more importantly X setup problems - if possible and not 
included already !

Or better still , you can definately design & code it separately on your 
own.
I will do more tough job - I will use it !  ;-)
