hi list,
good linux.....
pardon me for some questions which may be related
to networking but not Linux...
1. Can we change the default port binding to a
particluar service for more security like changing the
default port of telnet which is 23 to say 1024?
2. Can a Linux machine or any machine for that matter
work without a loopback interface(lo) defined in its
kernel or relevant networking files?
3.How can we make Linux function as a router with
dynamic routing protocols like OSPF,RIP or BGP for
that matter instead of manually making a static
routing table using route and ifconfig commands?
4. Can we send a broadcast message to all the routers
of the internet?
5. What is the need of ip addresses in an
internetworking system if MAC addresses can be
uniquely used to indentify a particular machine or an
interface?
hope these questions will act as a food for thought.
I have some more questions which I will post in my
coming posts. thanking you in anticipation.
waiting for a reply.....
from Prashant.
