Fair enough, then how are you dual booting ?

As I understand, you did not have LILO on MBR and want to
place it on MBR after swapping your hard disks.
The envisaged problems are, the partition your current kernel
is pointed to. This needs to be pointed to the correct loca-
tion, once disks are swapped. And you need to place LILO on
the MBR after swapping.
o Before swapping hard disks do:
a) fdisk -l (and take a copy of your current set up. Note it)
b) rdev /path/to/present/vmlinuz-x.x.xx (note where it is now
pointing)
c) Make a boot disk (with mkbootdisk, or some other util)
d) mount boot disk floppy and cd to that
o Make changes on boot disk
e) rdev /mnt/floppy/boot/vmlinux-x.x.xx /dev/hda1
(if your /boot is going to be /dev/hda1)
f) edit lilo.conf on floppy to point to correct devices which
you envisage after swapping your hard disks.
o Change hard disks
o Boot with floppy. It should boot if the lilo.conf entries
are correct, and the kernel was pointing to the right
device.
o Now edit /etc/lilo.conf on the hard disk. make sure that
the boot partition of othe alternate OS is correctly en-
tered as well.
o #lilo -v (and you would have LILO on the MBR)
o boot from hard disk.
