Hmmm... Yes. In fact, I have somehow downloaded the latest XFree86 in which Dawson has rewritten something new for the 830/845 motherboards. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to try it on the particular machine. The machine is currently running in VGA16 mode (horrible graphics and regular crashes).
My research on the web brought me to the ASUS motherboard using a SiS648 chipset (officially recognized by Intel) as well as a VIA chipset (not recognized by Intel) for the P4 upwards processors. Since I don't have the finances or the resources to try out all this I am left with what my 'local' assembler has palmed off. Alright, thanks for the replies (including Mithun), though.
