Hi,
is there any way available by which one can update DNS dynamically based
on the change in DHCP. My requirement is:

1) I should not add manually entry for machine name in DNS. While
installing itself it should prompt like it does for IP address(may be
root of DNS server).
2) If that is possible how to update the FQDN based on the change in IP
address if DHCP server gives different IP to a machine.

This is possible in windows as DHCP and DNS are bound to each other.
Basically what it should do is read address of a host and then
read hostname and update the DNS database. Is there a similar binding
possible in Linux/Unix.

Please donot suggest NIS for this. Possible by LDAP?

Thanks.
Mahantesh.
