I had experienced this once. I did defrag of C: and before that it does scandisk. I selected automatically fix errors. Bang after defrag my linux partition vanished. MBR overwritten. Now if I have Win98 SE and Debian on my machine. If I do scandisk of C: (I never select automatically fix errors now :-)), it gives error problem with boot sector, fix the error or ignore. I have to select ignore. May be this might have happened in your case. The kernel can also be stripped to reduce size, but NOT advocated. There is no increase in speed ... OTOH, some utilities depend on the presence of kernel symbols to operate (ksymoops, modutils etc) ####<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>#################################### : ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility Learn to use your power at OSDN's High Performance Computing Channel http://hpc.devchannel.org/ _______________________________________________ linux-india-help mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-india-help
