Just a suggestion. Check /etc/fstab and see if CDROM is being mounted with some
options.

Today morning I was copying slackware CD ( for mass duplication of course.:-)
on hard disk and have had bunch of 'No such file or directory error when I
tried to copy. This is mandrake9.0.

I poked around /etc/fstab and decided I never need that many options of
mounting CDROM. So unmounted CDROM by hand and remounted with only unhide
option. And all the CD got copied in a flash.

Try it.. may work.. I am still searching for why my machine boots 700MB knoppix
CD fine but can not boot slackware.. Need to experiment/RTFM bit more, I
guess..

Bye
 Shridhar
