still using the version of kernel shipped with RH 7.1 I suggest you to
compile in a new one say 2.4.21 and enable smp support (considering your
server is having a dual CPU).
Instead run up2date on that server to get the new redhat kernel (patched 2.4.18 I think) for 7.1 - or just install the latest kernel from ftp.redhat.com ...
