Which RDBMS? If Oracle, don't even bother trying to fight for Linux. The
savings offered to a business by using Linux in that scenario are
negligible. And no, Intel hardware just isn't all that reliable for a
bank.

If PostgreSQL, there are quite a few large databases which run on
Pg+Linux or Pg+FreeBSD (I know one which is exceeding a terabyte).

If MySQL, get a better database first.

Huh? Ask the CEO to ask a few big names like Oracle or IBM or HP
about Linux support.
