I guess it would be. Don't know if it is a fair/accurate comparision or not, but doesn't Yahoo! do this for my mail across continents - e.g. I can access the same mail account from yahoo.com and yahoo.co.in.
maintaining login data - fine. but you'll find that they'll basically -
1. store your mail on yahoo.co.in type servers if you are in india (based on your profile), and also customize indian ads for you again based on your profile
2. redirect you to the appropriate set of servers internally (and it's much easier for them using akamai caches as they do) when you login
Would the account data also be available?
