the policy for Debian stable says that only security related bug fixes
are available for Debian stable. If yahoo decides to change its protocol
every two weeks, debian stable is not supposed to change its policy to
cope up with it. The policy clearly states that for people who want to
be on the cutting edge there is testing and unstable.
That being said, the debian people should have more frequent release
cycles. The current stable is waaaaaaayyy behind the other distros in
terms of the versions of the various softwares bundled.
Btw, I use debian unstable/experimental and am too happy with it to be
pursuaded to use anyother distro right now :)
