HI,
Can samba authenticate users from a Radius server? I tried google, and it looks helpless. No anwers anywhere. Lots of negative reactions, like its even useless to do so.
Any of the listers know something about this?
Samba with PAM and use one of the PAM Radius modules.
Note to everyone: For any question regarding authentication, please lookup PAM resources first:

Disclaimer: I have no first hand experience for the kind of setup suggested above. It does seem like an out of the ordinary design.
Why is it out of the ordinary? RADIUS is often used for this type of setup.
Radius is mainly deployed for edge of network authentication on RASs and routers. Samba is not commonly deployed over WANs but over LANs. Authenticating a [mainly] LAN service from a [mainly] WAN authentication source is uncommon.
Please remember, I am simply saying thate it's uncommon - not impossible or difficult or wrong.
More commonly, both RADIUS and Samba will hook onto a LDAP server for authentication.
Err...that's my point. If what you have suggested is a more common setup, then the one asked by the OP is less common, i.e. out of the ordinary.
In any case, both Samba and Radius should hook into PAM, which in turn hooks into LDAP, if the need be.
