I have got AcerTravelmate 4150 circa August 2005. Ubuntu/FC3/Suse9.3/Mandrake refuse to recognise the DVD/CD combo (funnily as with many other distro's CDboot works) when install starts. The DVD is Phillips something. Second Debian/FC2 load but read/writes are SLOW! It took 3.48 monutes on another laptop to untar a file which took 48 minustes on this machine. The WorskStation install on CentOS takes about three hours!! Acer says this hardware is lInux compatible and they sell this with Lumpus(?) Linux pre-loaded. Unfortunately I do not have a CD of this extremely limited linux to re-try untar but I am going to download this tonight and see what happens. Third the broadcom WiFi is not recognised in any distro so far. Acer says that even ethernet card is broadcom but it is rcognised as RTL8139!! -- Sudev Barar Learning Linux ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Tame your development challenges with Apache's Geronimo App Server.
