I've seen quite a few setups that have both, because, well, you need an
additional socks proxy for a whole lot of things, so they NAT, and then
they leave squid on (sometimes as a transparent proxy) to provide faster
web browsing.

Back (6+ years ago) when I used to work as a corporate mail admin, we
had a simple way to discourage idiots who kept installing rubbish on
their PCs [win 98SE, back then), and hosing their installs .. format and
reimage their PC from scratch.

What? My emails? Oh they're backed up already.
What, all the cool mp3z and screensavers I downloaded?
Office stuff is stored on the fileserver and backed up
The rest of it - well, I did warn you not to install rubbish

Having that happen to someone two or three times teaches him not to
repeat this again.
